Nutty light of day
Of all the leaves I like these the most. The magic leaves of the plain common walnut, or persian, or english if you like. I am lucky to have one in my garden, common or not.
When the bright rays of day touch the leaves their little roads of live lit up, transparent, manyfold and a greenish white. Like the Wee folk, plain fairy magic.
''Juglans regia'', the Persian walnut, English walnut, or especially in Great Britain, common walnut, is an Old World walnut tree species native to the region stretching from the Balkans eastward to the Himalayas and southwest China. The largest forests are in Kyrgyzstan, where trees occur in extensive, nearly pure walnut forests at 1,000–2,000 m altitude.
