  1. Do you have a photo of the other side of the wings?
    I have some doubts about the ID - it desn't have the black spots on the orange spots of the hindwings. Moreover, the edge of the forewings of Adelpha serpa is curved wile this one is more straight. There are a few species in the same genus that look very much alike. "Accurate identification requires careful examination of the configuration of orange markings in the subapical area on the forewing. In most cases it is also essential to examine the patterning on the undersides, by which means otherwise similar species can be distinguished."
    Adelpha iphiclus is a good candidate.

    1. Sorry, I don't have another angle, this one was taken with the tele (400mm), it was relatively far away. I believe you are right regarding the correction, the Iphiclus Sister seems to have small blacks spots in the orange area in the bottom of the wings, similar to the photo. Thanks! Posted 8 years ago

"Adelpha iphiclus", the Iphiclus Sister, is a butterfly of the Nymphalidae family. It was described by Linnaeus in 1758. It is found in the tropics and sub-tropics of Central and South America, from Mexico to Bolivia.
