    1. That first song you're hearing is not the owlet. They make a double whistle: toot toot-toot, heard for instance at 00:12
      Most species in the genus Glaucidium are called pygmy-owls, for good reason. But the smallest owl in the world is the Sonoran elf owl, 12 to 14 cm, or the size of a great tit (though they weigh twice as much)!

        1. Some owls have really weird, creepy calls (think barn owl), but most have variations on the 'hoot' theme, and I don't think any has really beautiful vocalizations. After all, they aren't Passerines, or songbirds. Posted 8 years ago

The collared owlet is a species of owl in the family Strigidae. It is found in Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Brunei, Cambodia, China, India, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan, Taiwan, Thailand, and Vietnam.
Its natural habitat is temperate forests. It is the smallest owl in Asia, at 15 cm and 60 g .
