A Dusky Earless Agama standing proud I saw many of these lizards while in Malaysia, but this is the only individual I saw during the day. All of the others were sleeping in vegetation at night. Partly this is because they are easier to notice at night, and partly this is because I spent more time at night looking for animals than during the day. Aphaniotis fusca is found mainly in primary forest. It can be identified by its spindly body shape and lack of external ear opening. Its body scales are extremely small, its neck crest is generally not visible and the inside of the mouth is light blue. The iris of the female and juveniles and sometimes adult male is brown. However in some populations the iris of the male is a stunning blue.
