Rusty-margined flycatcher, Santa María, Colombia
Four birds on our checklist compete for this generic looking bird:
- Rusty-margined Flycatcher
- Social Flycatcher
- Great Kiskadee
- Boat-billed Flycatcher
The size of this bird narrows it down to the first two, which are hard to distinguish from each other and share similar distribution. I made an educated guess that this is the Rusty-margined flycatcher based on the wings being a bit more rufous than the typical social flycatcher.
The rusty-margined flycatcher is a species of bird in the family Tyrannidae, the tyrant flycatchers. It is found in northern and central South America in Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, French Guiana, Guyana, Peru, Suriname, and Venezuela; also eastern Panama.
