Update: found the species.
Struggling to identify this one. It's not in the local booklet that documents butterflies in the area. It's also not in this impressive butterfly guide of the area (warning: big 25MB PDF):

The Starry Night Cracker or Starry Cracker is a species of cracker butterfly in the family Nymphalidae. It can be found from Mexico to the Amazon Basin.
