The ashy bulbul is a species of songbird in the family Pycnonotidae. It is found in the Indian subcontinent and Southeast Asia, ranging across Bangladesh, Bhutan, Cambodia, India, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Burma, Nepal, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam.
