      1. Not 100% sure, but usually the proboscis are retractable or foldable inward so that it don't get damaged when not feeding. Posted 8 years ago

      1. You're welcome. Some species in this genus have larvae that develop in bromeliads. I think that the exact ID for your fly might be Fidena eriomeroides.
