  2. It's been cold! We've had several weeks of temperatures that haven't really gotten much above freezing, which isn't that typical for this area (no mid - winter mushrooms out there right now). That's finally broken today and it's now about about 5C and pouring rain :p We never really had any lowland snow though -the moist air has until now stayed well south of us and dumped all the snow about 150 miles south on Portland, Oregon. The mountains have gotten plenty though - which is good, because we need to refill our reservoirs after the last few dryer years. Posted 8 years ago

The ruby-crowned kinglet is a very small passerine bird found throughout North America. It is a member of the kinglet family. The bird has olive-green plumage with two white wing bars and a white eye-ring. Males have a red crown patch, which is usually concealed. The sexes are identical, and juveniles are similar in plumage to adults.
