The Hummingbird Bobtail Squid - Euprymna berry is also known as Berry's Bobtail Squid.
They are very small in size, around 2 cm although often times smaller. Usually seen at night among sandy bottom.
Sometimes, only their eyes are visible as they buries themselves into the sandy bottom. They can be quite fun to watch as they moves from place to place when they realised they have been discovered, by burying themselves into the sands while their head is still exposed, they will use their tentacles to arrange small pebbles/sands over the head until more of its head are covered!

''Euprymna berryi'', commonly called humming-bird bobtail squid or Berry's bobtail squid among various other vernacular names, is a species of mollusc cephalopod in the family Sepiolidae.

Its one of the more difficult shot to get as they don't stay in the water column too much, just a few seconds before they settle to the sandy bottom to bury themselves again.
And yes, it still has sands on it :D Posted 6 years ago
