Eastern Water Dragon (Itellagama lesueurii lesueurii) This grey brown lizard ( ? female) was about 50 cms. It had a dark band stretching from each eye down to the front stopping just above the front legs. The skin was largely dark but broken by thin pale bands on the back ,tail and legs. Folds of skin seen on either side of head gave it a dragon-look. <br />
The underside was pale. <br />
Short spines were seen behind the neck going down the back.<br />

The Australian water dragon is the only species of the genus Intellagama which includes the eastern water dragon (I. l. lesueurii) and the Gippsland water dragon (I. l. howittii) subspecies. It is an arboreal agamid species native to eastern Australia from Victoria northwards to Queensland.
