Smooth-billed ani couple, Santa María, Colombia
The light was getting too low for normal photography, so I used flash, which of course has limitations on a large range zoom lens. Even worse, I initially forgot to take the diffuser cap off, leading to very little light hitting these birds. Yet, it kind of captures the atmosphere of how we saw it with our naked eyes, so I kept it this way.

The smooth-billed ani is a large near passerine bird in the cuckoo family. It is a resident breeding species from southern Florida, the Bahamas, the Caribbean, parts of Central America, south to western Ecuador, Brazil, and northern Argentina.
