Mystery horse, Santa María, Colombia I normally don&#039;t post domestic animals, as it is generally discouraged on the site. Making an exception for this one though. We were experiencing the last light of day in Santa Mar&iacute;a, Colombia when on our path we found this free roaming white horse. It seemed to lure us in deeper into the forest, each time walking ahead of us and turning around as if to check if we were following. <br />

It was an almost fairy tale experience. Until we were ultimately led into a military post, and searched. That kind of ruined the illusion. Still, the military staff did help us spot some owls :) Boyacá,Colombia,Domestic horse,Equus ferus caballus,Santa María,South America,World Click/tap to enlarge Country intro

The horse is one of two extant subspecies of "Equus ferus". It is an odd-toed ungulate mammal belonging to the taxonomic family Equidae. The horse has evolved over the past 45 to 55 million years from a small multi-toed creature into the large, single-toed animal of today. Humans began to domesticate horses around 4000 BC, and their domestication is believed to have been widespread by 3000 BC.
