Leopard Tortoises Mating

Driving home one afternoon we came across the tortoises mating in the road. It was such a privilege to see this and it was one of the cutest things I have seen for a long time. Tortoises in the Karoo are also supposed to symbolise rain

The Leopard tortoise

The Leopard tortoise is a large and attractively marked tortoise found in the savannas of Eastern and Southern Africa, from Sudan to the southern Cape. It is the only member of the genus "Stigmochelys", but in the past it was commonly placed in "Geochelone" instead.
