    1. These guys are a different genus from most birds that are known as sparrows and they are a bit larger. They are called "fox" sparrows because of their reddish brown coloring, though this particular sub species P. iliaca unalaschcensis is darker and more brown than P. iliaca iliaca. The wiki for P. iliac unalaschcensis lists even further divisions in form and coloring and proposes 5 more subspecies. Posted 8 years ago

The fox sparrow is a large American sparrow. It is the only member of the genus ''Passerella'', although some authors split the genus into four species .
