The reality of nature This picture shows a female Phasmid of the species Aretaon muscosus with her abdomen missing. Phasmids are most vulnerable at night when they come out to the open, for feeding and then to just hang out on leafs. During day time, they are mostly in hiding.<br />

There are millions of Bats in the caves of Mulu National Park and every night, each Bat will eat up to 10 insects! Despite that, Mulu National Park is still full of loads of Insects. 1. Poor thing. I remember waiting for the bats in Mulu, but that day was not a good bat day. It was a bad day ;) Posted 8 years ago
    1. What a good play with words! :)

On my first trip to Mulu, I was impressed with the Bats exodus, then I met a guy there who has been there many times and still go out to watch the bat exodus every evening and he told me that aside from the Bat exodus, what he wanted to capture was the Hawks predating the Bats as they exits the cave. Were you aware of that? I managed to get some shots of that, however not very good as I don't have the right set-ups :(

      1. I wasn't aware of that. We waited at this very busy place around sunset but only a few dozens bats flew out of the cave :) Posted 8 years ago
