Castiarina bremei
A coastal species of jewel beetle, black, with two transverse bright orange bands across the elytra, almost touching the suture and extending along the margin back to the apex and forwards to the base of the elytra.
There are over 475 species of Castiarina beetles in Australia and tiny differences usually indicate different species. Most mimic other beetles, native bees, leaves and flowers or each other. This is not my field of research but the group is well known and well studied by many enthusiasts over many years. Therefore identifications are relatively easy and reliable. All species are probably known, which is a change from Leaf beetles in the genus Paropsisterna, where I have numerous undescribed species.
