  1. This is a male mallard duck (Anas platyrhynchos), probably the most widespread species of duck. You can use the Identify species icon to enter the species. Please also geotag the location or at least set the country. Posted 8 years ago
    1. Thanks. This was taken in a botanic garden inn Chicago. IL USA which I thought I indicated. Thanks for your comment. Ellen Posted 8 years ago
      1. Yes, I can read it in the description, but that is all.
        - If you geotag it you will put a pin with a link to your photo on the wildlife map and appear on the US photos and species lists.

        - It you set the country it will appear on the US photos and species lists.

You should really read the instructions.

        1. Wild flower: Im new to this site, am a senior citizen and have had 5 surgeries in 5 years! its a complicated site and very confusing for me. So please bear with me and have some patience like the other members. I appreciate your input but twice now you have been rather insulting. I need extra help not derision. Thank you. 1. I'm sorry Ellen. I didn't mean to insult you, I was just trying to help and explain why it is important for this site to have the relevant information entered into the corresponding fields (from the yellow icons). The more fields you fill in, the more ways your photos will be accessible throughout the site. It is all interconnected. I've been here long enough and I have seen things in the making. I guess it can be complicated for a new member and it takes some time to find out all the functions but that's part of the fun. I hope you like it. Posted 8 years ago
  2. Ellen, as a refresher of our process for sharing photos, this article may help:

  3. thanks Ferdy. I will work in this, Its still new and a bit confusing. Thanks for your time. Ellen Posted 8 years ago
    1. Sure, no problem. Do note that it is not that complicated. After uploading you are expected to do three things:

      - Set a meaningful title, and optionally a description and tags
      - Identify the species (if you know it)
      - Set the location, either exact via geotagging or set the country

That's all, it can be done in a few seconds once you get the hang of it. Keep in mind that you are not sharing just a picture to look at, you are sharing a wildlife observation. We need to know what it is, and where it was. It is the main purpose of this website.
