
Pharaoh Cuttlefish - Sepia pharaonis
This Pharaoh Cuttlefish - Sepia pharaonis is very large in size, nearly 0.5 meter.
A few of them have taken up residence in this particular artificial reefs and they can be reliable seen. During sunset, it is possible to see the large female depositing her eggs among crevices particularly the roots of coconut tree that has been sunken as part of the artificial reef. Occasionally. baby Cuttlefish are seen hatching from the eggs.

The pharaoh cuttlefish is a large cuttlefish species, growing to 42 cm in mantle length and 5 kg in weight. When raised in the laboratory, the maximum recorded size for males is 16.2 cm, and for females 15.5 cm.
