
Leopard Coral Grouper - Plectropomus leopardus
Also known as Coral Trout, this Leopard Coral Grouper - Plectropomus leopardus are are protogynous hermaphrodites. They start their lives as females and change sex later in life. The trigger of this sex change is unknown.
They are mostly, red, pale gray or olive to dark brown with small blue spots on head, may display bars. Grows up to 70cm in size.

Native to the western Pacific Ocean, its natural habitat includes open seas and coral reefs. Coral trout are piscivorous; juveniles mostly eat crustaceans, especially prawns, and adults feed upon a variety of reef fish, particularly damselfish.
