    1. Well, I don't really "do" Lepidoptera and caterpillars. so not my field with correct terminology etc., but this one had me fooled for a moment. Top left you could think that you're looking at the head (well, I did) and you might even think to see eyes. but in fact it is some "flaps of skin" covering the head. In the next images you see the flaps opening up like a curtain and the true head shows up behind it. On the last image (bottom right) you see the true eyes - a row of black omatides on the side of the head just above the labial palp (or something equivalent?) ''Apoda limacodes'', the festoon, is a moth of the family Limacodidae. It is found in Europe. The wingspan is 20–30 mm. The moth flies in June and July in Belgium and the Netherlands.
