  1. Not sure what the best way to proceed here. Having it as a species intro is not true, as two other subspecies have already been introduced. But I can't directly edit this and simply add the subspecies to the taxon name. Do you have to create a new 'species' for the subspecies, or Ferdy do you have direct access to the taxon name? 1. The system doesn't make the difference between a subspecies and a species, hence you will get a "species" intro for each subspecies. In this case there are separate Wikipedia pages with specific information for these subspecies. The one for sbsp. major did not load automatically for some reason so I created it manually using the text from Wikipedia. The main species entry that you had used includes more general information and a description of all subspecies and it could be used for those subspecies for which there is no separate page if somebody has a photo of them some day. However, this main species entry should not be renamed as a subspecies. Posted 8 years ago
      1. Thanks very much Wildflower! I'll do that next time! Posted 8 years ago
  2. I am very ashamed to say I've never heard of the country of Benin. Thanks for introducing it. You must be the most traveled person on the whole platform, deeply impressive! Posted 8 years ago
    1. It was my only (to date) trip to West Africa and it was an absolute eye opener. It is vastly less touristy than East and South Africa, and yes, there are fewer big mammals, but the birds, reptiles and landscapes are stunning. And most of all, the diversity of ethnic groups, many of which still lead very traditional lifestyles, is just mind-boggling. I recommend the area to all my adventurous friends. As for travel, I have been pretty lucky :-). I hit 50 countries this year! Posted 8 years ago
      1. 50, that is absolute madness.
West Africa currently seems to have a bad security reputation but I'm glad you're here to open our mind to it.

        1. Well the Sahelian countries certainly are tricky, but to the best of my knowledge, the coastal countries are perfectly safe to visit. Of course, the two sets are completely different, both ecologically and culturally. Posted 8 years ago

It is possibly extirpated from Gambia.
