Wasp Beetle, master of deception
One of the most fascinating aspects of nature is how ingenious it is in developing survival and defense strategies. Take this wasp beetle for example, found in my garden today. It's a harmless beetle disguised as a dangerous wasp. It looks like a wasp, moves like a wasp and can even imitate the sound of a wasp.
Clytus arietis, the wasp beetle, is a wasp-mimicking longhorn beetle species in the genus Clytus. It reaches 9–18 millimetres (0.35–0.71 in) in length, and flies well in sunshine from May to July, often visiting flowers for pollen and nectar.
