Rainbow Lorikeet (Trichoglossus haematodus) There are loads of photos of these birds but I had to put these up ! These two are regular visitors stopping by every couple of months. They are noisy and bully the other wild birds. The purplish-blue feathers around the head are fascinating- they are small and clearly defined as if they were chiselled. Gorgeous birds - so lovely to see them flying wild ! Australia,Geotagged,Rainbow Lorikeet,Rainbow lorikeet,Spring,Trichoglossus haematodus,Trichoglossus moluccanus Click/tap to enlarge Promoted

  1. Fascinating birds indeed, and don't ever doubt to upload when a species has a lot of photos already. We still want them! Posted 8 years ago

The rainbow lorikeet is a species of parrot found in Australia. It is common along the eastern seaboard, from northern Queensland to South Australia. Its habitat is rainforest, coastal bush and woodland areas. Several taxa traditionally listed as subspecies of the rainbow lorikeet are now treated as separate species.
