Then he started to look around his garden and within minutes, he was able to show me this one, small in size, body around 5-6 cm.  It was hiding under a rock and he told me now that the weather is getting cooler, they are less active and also their colours are very dull.  During springtime when they are getting ready to mate, they have more colours on them.<br />

The Smooth Newt, also known as the Common Newt, "Lissotriton vulgaris" is the most common newt species of the "Lissotriton" genus of amphibians. "L. vulgaris" is found throughout Europe except the far north, areas of Southern France, and the Iberian peninsula.
