Leopard Tortoise - Stigmochelys pardalis A few days before this encounter at another National Park, the guide told us this Tortoise will pee/urinate if they are being picked up. This time around, the guide did indeed pick up the Tortoise and he was peed by it. You can see the drops of urine on the left of the Tortoise. The Leopard tortoise is a large and attractively marked tortoise found in the savannas of Eastern and Southern Africa, from Sudan to the southern Cape. It is the only member of the genus "Stigmochelys", but in the past it was commonly placed in "Geochelone" instead.
