Stick Insect, Phasmid - Sungaya inexpetata, Female
This is a Female Phasmid of the species Sungaya inexpectata.
The genus name of Sungaya was created based on village where it was first discovered, Sungay.
Male of this species can be seen here :
At the moment, there is only one species - Sungaya inexpectata under this new genus. The name inexpectata means, unexpected in Latin, as the discovery was unexpected.
I have come across a similar looking Phasmid from a different region in Philippines and it would be interesting to find out if they are the same species or different.

''Sungaya inexpectata'' is a species of stick insect. Its common name is the sunny stick insect, derived from the less commonly used sungay stick insect. It is a species in the order of the stick insects Phasmatodea and the only member of the genus ''Sungaya.'' The genus name refers to the locality of the holotype, i.e. the region where the insect was first identified. The species name is derived from the Latin as "inexpectatus" and means "unexpected".
