With regards to their mating, the non-winged species would have more difficulty encountering each other in the wild, hence, when they do see each other in the wild as adults, they might as well do something about it :p
Phasmids have also known to be able to reproduce parthenogenetically. Also, they have the capability to store the sperm packet delivered by the males to use for over a long period to fertilised their eggs. In this situation, they may only need to mate once! Posted 8 years ago
