In Blue This is a Lichen Moth, its the same species of Moth I saw earlier this month in Malaysia.
Prior to that, have not seen this Moth before, so it was rather surprising to me.

On this particular picture, you can see the scales are blue in colour. In subsequent pictures, the Moth moved and the colour of the scales changed to black, its probably due to the different angle I took the picture and how the light hits the scales that reflects different colours, truly amazing to me :)

The other picture showing it in black :
1. Nice effect! A lot of black birds have the same effect. They aren't truly black once you get close and the light hits at a certain angle. Posted 8 years ago
    1. Yes, that was what I thought too. Posted 8 years ago

''Oeonistis altica'' is a member of Arctiidae family. It is found in south-east Asia, including China, Hong Kong, Laos, Vietnam, Indonesia, northern India, the Philippines, Taiwan as well as in Australia in Queensland.

Adults are deep yellow, with black markings on the forewings.

The larvae feed lichen, and possibly also on ''Flacourtia'' and ''Ficus'' species. They are pale grey with a black stripe along the back and hairy.
