  1. Even without wiskers, it a variety of hamster bred for being pets. Indoor pets. Allas, it is not my way. At all.
My wife shot these at a childrens indoor playground, informing you of a strange hand in 'nature'. Not that sharp, but informing. What do you think of it?

    1. A skinny or baldwin guinea pig. Never seen one. Didn't even know they exist. This one is a skinny pig I think, because it has hair around it's nose. No real wiki page of this type; http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Skinny_pig

They don't have a bad hair day ;)

      1. Hi guys, I'll look into it. It is not a guinea pig (a cavia in Dutch, and that is not a hamster) though, it is definitely a hamster. Thanks for thinking along though!
It indeed has a bit of hair on its nose, though no whiskers. Not very practical..

        1. (Your email account doesn't work). It's not a hamster I think, because they have a more pointed snout and upright ears. Posted 13 years ago
          1. (you cannot reply to the JD mail I believe, did you send it directly to my mail address or did you reply to the JD mail?) thx for the extra info, you made me doubt. Thanks, I'll look into it more deeply! It was not an official species as of yet for wiki on either case I was told. Keep you informed! Posted 13 years ago
  2. Hi Ludo, I'm with FraJH - looks pretty much like a well shaved guinea pig! Posted 13 years ago
    1. FraJH, Gernot, yep, it does look more like a guinea pig/cavia to me too. They said it was a hamster:) I'm not into these kinds of species, never had one before as a kid:) The ears tell the difference in this case, I think, and the nose.
Thanks for thinking along and setting me on the right track!

  3. Ludo, I send a mail to your own email account, not your JD mail. But it came back undeliverable, not the first time I have problems with your email account. Posted 13 years ago
    1. Hi FraJH, thanks for letting me know. A few weeks ago suddenly my return address of my imap client (thunderbird) had a .om at the end, in stead of .com. I corrected this upon discovery. It could be that your address book has this address stored and resolves this when entering my name. Please check.
Could you resend it and check the extension on the mail address being .com?

The guinea pig, also called the cavy, is a species of rodent belonging to the family Caviidae and the genus ''Cavia''. They originated in the Andes, and earlier studies based on biochemistry and hybridization suggested they are domesticated descendants of a closely related species of cavy.
