  1. It looks enormous! By its size and shape I wonder how effective the camouflage is? Posted 8 years ago
    1. Yes, its a large species around 8-10 cm and fat/robust.
      At night time, the camouflage does not come into play as we have to visualise that its totally dark and they are perching on top of the leafs in the open. However, during day time, you can hardly find them as they are 'hiding' among the leaf litters or down near the ground or among the twigs/branches and that is when the camouflage comes into play.

Haaniella saussurei is a phasmid in the family Heteropterygidae. LIke other species in the genus Haaniella, H. saussurei has large spines on its body that may be green, particularly in males. Females lay lemon-shaped eggs.
