    PERPETUAL ERECTION
Okay. Let’s try to be mature here. Male proboscis monkeys (Nasalis larvatus) have permanently erect, bright red penises, which have earned them the nickname ‘red rocket’. This undeniably conspicuous characteristic is unique to this species. Scientists aren’t sure what the reason behind the perpetual erection is, but it is probably an important component in sexual display. {Spotted in Malaysia by Albert Kang} #ProboscisMonkey #Nasalislarvatus

The proboscis monkey or long-nosed monkey, known as the ''bekantan'' in Malay, is a reddish-brown arboreal Old World monkey that is endemic to the south-east Asian island of Borneo. It belongs in the monotypic genus ''Nasalis'', although the pig-tailed langur has traditionally also been included in this genus. This species of monkey is easily identifiable because of its unusually large nose.
