  1. It seems the newer your photos, the higher the quality. Is this a natural progression of skill, a gear upgrade, or both? Posted 9 years ago
  2. Its a bit of both. I have progressed from a 100mm macro for Canon to a MP-E 65mm f2.8 1-5x but usually at 1:1 magnification and quite happy to crop. More recently I have retired the ring flash for a twin-lite which is possibly the change that you are noticing. Light, as you know is the most important factor. I am much more a biologist than a photographer but as I progressively acquire more technology people assume I know what I am doing which is only partly true. Nick is my local expert in nature photography and uses a better sensor camera, that would be my next step. http://lifeunseen.com/ However, I need to invest in microscopy and a digital eyepiece camera to document dissections. That will come first. Posted 9 years ago
  3. Hi Martin, fantastic photo. Would I be able to reproduce this image in a scientific article centred on this species? Full credits will be given of course. Please feel free to email me at p.contos@latrobe.edu.au if you want to discuss.
    Cheers,
