Kung-Fu Phasmid This is the Female Phasmid of the species Haaniella echinata.<br />
She is very large size and full of big spines.<br />
The picture shows her in her defensive stance.  She can use the spines on the back legs to strike at her predators.<br />

    1. Yes, they are, especially if you see the big Females in person.
      And they have the blue-band on their coxae which you can only noticed if they strikes this pose.

        1. Not sure at all about the blue coxae. There is a variation of red coxae. The colour becomes more pronounced as they become full adults, although can be seen probably from 3rd or 4th instar. Posted 9 years ago

Haaniella echinata is a species of stick insects that throughout northern Borneo is home. It is after Haaniella scabra the representative of the genus Haaniella which inhabits the most elevated habitats in Borneo.
