A ladybird beetle is carnivorous and hemispherical and similar to leaf eating beetles which can even mimic ladybird beetles in some cases.
The main visual differences are two;
1/ Chrysomelidae have filiform (threadlike) or moniliform (beaded) antennae, coccinellidae are short and clubbed.
2/ Chrysomelidae have fairly strong puncturations on each elytron, usually in ten series. In the case of this species, the middle eight rows of puncturations are paired and alternating interstices (spaces 2,4,6,8) have broken black stripes, therefore only four.
