Lady in red

Her paper wings closing as she landed on me,
I held her up loosely for others to see.
The wind picked up and started to blow,
and I knew Lady Luck would soon have to go.
So I cried; "Lady Bug, Lady Bug, fly away home!"
She opened her wings and left me standing alone.

  1. I just met her having our lunch on top of a mountain rim in France. Due to earth shifting the ground we sat upon was dated some 2000 years old, at the time of Christ if you believe in thatlegend. The bug was quite fascinating, given the rocky background and sparse sunlight shining on this little saviour.
Shot at daylight with no macro capability at hand. Still like the result.

Coccinella septempunctata is the most common ladybird in Europe. Its elytra are of a red colour, but punctuated with three black spots each, with one further spot being spread over the junction of the two, making a total of seven spots, from which the species derives both its common and scientific names.
