  1. Dippers are one of the most uniquely specialized bird families. Of pretty standard passerine stock, they are unique (to my knowledge) in their ability to swim underwater in running streams to feed on aquatic invertebrates. Some even nest behind waterfalls! Posted 9 years ago

      1. Well the clambering up waterfalls is neat, but I've never managed a shot of a dipper properly underwater. A video is of course of better illustration in this case, and youtube seems to have a few.
