  1. How sure are you about this species? I'm no expert but on all the other images I see of the species the bird seems to have a significantly different bill, far thinner and slightly hooked. Posted 9 years ago
    1. Well-spotted Ferdy, that's a large cuckooshrike. Anawilundawa is actually one of the island's most reliable spots for that species :-) Posted 9 years ago

The large cuckooshrike is a species of cuckooshrike found in the Indian Subcontinent and Southeast Asia. They are mostly insectivorous and usually fly just above the forest canopy. They have a loud call "klu-eep" and have a characteristic habit of shrugging their closed wings shortly after landing on a perch.
