    I can't remember ever having seen this butterfly. But next time I now it's name ;)

    1. You won't find this butterfly outdoors in the Netherlands. You'll have to travel to e.g. South America ;-)
      It was taken in a tropical butterfly garden. Still hard to photograph, because they won't keep their wings still.

"Dryas iulia" is a species of brush-footed butterfly. The sole representative of its genus "Dryas", it is native from Brazil to southern Texas and Florida, and in summer can sometimes be found as far north as eastern Nebraska. Over 15 subspecies have been described.
