The Malagasy pond heron is a species of heron belonging to the Ardeidae family. They are primarily seen in the outer islands of the Seychelles, Madagascar and countries on the east coast of Africa such as Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda. Being endemic to Madagascar, this species is often referred to as the Madagascar pond heron or Madagascar squacco heron.
