Brimstone canary
These birds are generally found singly or in pairs, but I was fortunate enough to see a whole flock which confused me a bit. They were feeding on a compost heap where there were a lot of discarded seeds, so obviously the word had got out! Very shy birds and I was unable to get a good vantage point to photo the whole flock feeding, but they always seemed to keep a few on lookout, like this one.

The brimstone canary or bully canary is a small passerine bird in the finch family. It is a resident breeder in central and southern Africa. This species is found in open, lightly wooded habitats, such as hillsides with trees or scrub and forest edges. In South Africa it occurs mainly in coastal areas, inhabiting coastal bush, shrubs along streams, gardens, and areas with rank vegetation. It is not truly migratory, but undertakes some seasonal movements.
