Mystery dwarf gecko, Ankarafantsika, Madagascar Note that this photo is rotated, in reality this lizard was facing down. It was extremely nervous, all I got was a quick shot from a distance, then it was gone.
The thing is, I have no idea what it is. Our guide mentioned it being the world's smallest gecko. That likely makes this a dwarf gecko:
1. It's definitely a Lygodactylus. I'm away from my Madagascar books at the moment, but when I'm back home I'll see if I can determine the species. Posted 9 years ago
    1. Thanks a lot, John! Good to know we're searching in the right area. Posted 9 years ago
      1. Glaw & Vences 3rd edition shows only one Lygodactylus species from Ankarafantsika or anywhere nearby: Lygodactylus tolampyae. And one of the two photos of that species looks very similar to yours. (To be fair, many Lygodactylus species are hard to tell apart.) So I think that's a pretty good ID for yours. Posted 9 years ago
