Threadfin anthias - Pseudanthias huchti
Balicasag Island near Bohol is an excellent place to see "clouds" of Anthias over the coral reef. I am not sure of the species but according to the photos in my guide these may be threadfin anthias. The males show a lavender-gray to yellowish color with a bright red stripe from eye to pectoral fin base. Also have a red border in the ventral fins. The females are dull or greenish yellow with brighter yellow borders on tail. The groups usually contain more females than males.
Habitat:
Outcroppings of clear outer reef slopes in 4-20 m. Asian Pacific.
Notes:
the little blue fishes on the background are Chromis viridis.

''Pseudanthias huchtii'', the threadfin anthias or red cheek fairy basslet, is a Pseudanthias fish from the Western Central Pacific Ocean. It occasionally makes its way into the aquarium trade. It grows to a size of 12cm in length.
