Gorgonian Spider Crab - Xenocarcinus depressus

This Gorgonian Spider Crab - Xenocarcinus depresses are very small in size, just around 2 cm. It is pinkish/orange in colour with white stripes/segments which makes them camouflaged very well on the host Gorgonian Sea Fan which they lives in.

Xenocarcinus depressus is a crab species from the Epialtidae family. The scientific name of the species is validly published for the first time in 1874 by Miers.

Carapace to 1.5 cm (5/8 in.). Red to orange or reddish brown. Carapace covered with numerous lumps. Central wide depressed stripe. Wide rostrum. Legs covered with small tubercles.
