  1. Those eyes are huge, I wonder what it tries to mimic. Posted 9 years ago
    1. Actually they are meant to startle predators. At rest, they are completely hidden by the forewings, and the butterfly looks all brown. You get closer and... BOOM!
      The whole genus is like that, with some variation in coloration of the eyes, and there is a bunch of them!
