This is a Male Stick Insect, Phasmid of the species Haaniella grayii.
They are quite large in size with a lot of spines on its body and also legs.
When threatened, they will use their 2 hind legs that are heavily armed with spines to slash at whatever that is posing a threat to them.

    1. There are several spiny species of Phasmid from Malaysia, Indonesia and Thailand that can be aggressive in nature.

      There are other species that are 'aggressive' in a different way, with the ability to spray at their predators, which can cause irritation to the eyes and possibly temporary blindness.
