This Spiny Stick Insect, Phasmid was recently described as a new sub-species - Galactea imponens rabaeyae by Dr. Francis Seow Choen in his book, A Taxanomy Guide to the Stick Insects of Borneo.

The sub-species name was changed to Conogalactea imponens rabaeyae in 2018.
