Lantern Bug
This insect were originally called Lantern Bugs as the long nose/snout were thought to glow at night, but that is not the case. This particular Lantern Bug, Pyrops lautus is almost all white in colour unlike other more known species that are very colourful. However, this could be the first photo document of this species, first described in 1870 as Fulgora lauta by Stål.

I was made aware of the fact when my friend who specializes in Fulgoridae told me about it and asked me to provide him a high resolution copy of all the pictures I took of this rare Lantern Bug. Posted 9 years ago
