
Sunburst/Blacklipped Butterflyfish - Chaetodon kleinii

A butterflyfish up to 24 cm (9 1/2 in.). Yellow with horizontal rows of small black spots. Blue marking on rear snout and nape. Dorsal fin trails a thread-like filament.
Habitat:
It is a native of the Indo-Pacific region, from the Red Sea and East Africa to the Hawaiian Islands and Samoa, north to southern Japan, south to Australia and New Caledonia. It is also found in Galapagos Islands in the Eastern Pacific. Usually in pairs. Coral-rich areas of lagoons and outer slopes in 2-50 m.

The Sunburst Butterflyfish, Chaetodon kleinii, is also known as the Black-lipped Butterflyfish (or "blacklip butterflyfish") or Klein's Butterflyfish.
