  1. This beautiful terrestrial species is diurnal and nocturnal and presumably oviparous, It especially feeds on frogs and toads. It is known from a specimen that was observed voluntarily bleeding from the mouth immediately after being captured.

    Its wide distribution includes from Mexico to Bolivia and Brazil.

    Its neck clearly stands from the head; with big eyes and round-shaped pupil. The body is cylindrical or compressed dorsoventrally, with relatively short tail.

    The general coloration is uniform or with transverse dark spots. It is known as false Fer-de-lance by this coloration and overall body shape.
